Finding the Story Within The Numbers

Analyzing Data

About Me

Hi! My name is Tallahassee "Tally" Heys

I am a rising senior at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo studying Business Administration, with a focus on accounting and operations.

I’ve long been drawn to storytelling — to the structure, pacing, and meaning behind the narratives we experience. Over time, I began to see that numbers carry their own kind of story. Financial data reflects choices, priorities, and the underlying structure that allows ideas to take form.

That realization led me toward film production finance and business operations. I’m particularly interested in the systems behind creative work — the budgeting, reporting, and operational frameworks that quietly support storytelling at scale. I value clarity, discipline, and thoughtful structure in environments where creativity and precision must coexist.

Beyond the Ledger

Open Book

Reading

I’m drawn to books that explore discipline, courage, and personal standards — qualities I try to cultivate in both creative and operational work.

Currently reading:

How We Learn To Be Brave - Mariann Edgar Budde

Next Up:

John Livingston Seagull - Richard Bach

Black Wired Earbuds

Podcasts

During workouts, I often listen to The Business (KCRW), which explores the economics and decision-making behind the entertainment industry. It’s a way for me to stay informed on the structural forces shaping film and media today.

Puzzles

I’m currently working through a 1,000-piece New York city skyline puzzle — a slow but rewarding exercise in patience, pattern recognition, and focus.

Hiking in Forest

Hiking

Hiking gives me space to think clearly and step back from the details. I value the perspective that comes from slowing down, observing, and moving forward with intention — one step at a time. The discipline of the trail and the clarity at the summit mirror how I approach both work and growth.
